Marketing is Your Job Now
You may believe that it’s the publisher’s job to market your book. Yes, that’s true, in theory. In practice, publishers only put huge amounts of effort into marketing the “winners” – books that are already selling well. Publishers put almost no money into marketing the “losers” – and most books are losers. That’s a shame, but it means that if you can market your book well enough to be a winner, your publisher will then pitch in and make it a big winner. Yes, that’s a rotten situation for writers. But it’s the SAME rotten situation for all writers, so it’s fair. You’ll do best if you decide to take control of your destiny and learn to market like a winner. Marketing is your job.
